...then the latest generation of the Mazda MX-5 for 2015 would surely only be available in beetroot red! We mentioned it in our recent blog “The name’s Mazda – Mazda MX-5 – and the number’s a million”, where we talked about it being one of the best cars around. We’re delighted, but not surprised, to have found in the last few days that some of the country’s leading motoring journalists are as full of praise as we are.
To give you an idea, in its verdict of the MX-5 Sky Activ-G, Auto Express said: “it’s clear that this is shaping up to be the best MX-5 yet”. They also described it as “genuine open-top sports car thrills for a buyer on a budget”. Over at Autocar, the “sneak peak” offered by the company was reckoned to be because: “Like the owners of a new puppy, they just wanted to show it off”. The review then fully vindicated that decision.
The review in Top Gear magazine concludes with the thought that: “I’m just glad the MX-5 exists. The world deserves a small roadster as good as this. It brightens things up, and we all need a bit of that in our lives”. Over at Car Magazine, the verdict reaches the conclusion that “Mazda’s engineers have done a fantastic job” and also suggests that “it’s something of a bargain”. Finally, Goodwood Road & Racing, start their review quite unequivocally: “It’s difficult not to like the MX-5; near impossible if you’ve actually driven one”.
Phew! Now, we know that movie posters often drag quotes out of reviews to give a better impression than the review intended. However, we also know that the MX-5 really thrives on intense scrutiny, so please take the time to read any or all of the reviews mentioned above in full. Here are the links:
